Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona
Missing a Court Date
If you miss a court date do you automatically go to jail or can you speak to a procecutor or someone to resolve it. Someone close to me had a court date and was out of town for the Holidays, the main highways were closed and they didn't make it back in time. They were supose to do 24 hours community service and only did 8 because of work and then missed their court date. is there any way to resove this without jail time and how long do they have to do so if you can.

Re: Missing a Court Date
Your friend should have called and exlained the situation. It is not too late. This person should immediately contact the court and the CS agency, explain what happened, and be prepared to take action to fix the problem. Jail time will probably not be in the picture if immediate good faith action is taken with the weather explanation.
