Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

how many people can posses illegal contraband

i was pulled over with two of my friends and drugs and contraband were found inside the vehicle. The driver admitted full responsibility to the charges, admitted guilt and was charged. and my other friend along with myself were not charged with anything and recieved no citation or order to appear in court. After a year or so my other friend was brought up on those same charges despite the previous conviction of the driver, and he too admitted guilt to those charges in order to avoid a trial. After another 6 months i am being charged for these same charges. Due to my record i won't get off as lucky as them so i must fight it. Is this correct seeing as though two people have claimed possesion of the same things and now they are seeking a third?

More than one passenger in a vehicle can be found in "constructive possession" of contraband. You would have to look at what your friends have told the police about your knowledge and involvement with the contraband.
