Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona
plea bargain
My public defender has said that the prosecutor is offering a plea bargain - he said that I should deny it and the prosecutor will make another/better plea bargain offer. Is this true?I think that since they both work for the state they work together.I don't know if he is telling me the truth.

Re: plea bargain
As a general matter, I would not discount the advice of your public defender merely because he or she is employed by the state. Some of the sharpest attorneys I know happen to be PD's.
There is no requirement that the proseuction make you any plea offer at all, let alone a second one. Every case is unique however and your attorney may have some insight regarding what the prosecution's next move is. Without being involved in your case, it would be impossible to say whether I agree with you current attorney's assessment that there will be future plea offer that is more favorable that the current one.
