Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

police questioning

if a detective wants to talk to you about a crime do you have to speak to him? i have had an officer that wants to speak to me about a crime and i have avoided him. that was a year ago. he finally got ahold of me again and has asked to speak with me. i know i have no warrants out for my arrest being as i have been pulled over and a major wreck sense then. i have also had a friend run my name and drivers license number for warrants and nothing has come back...so am i bound by law to go speak with him?

Re: police questioning

Absolutely not. You have an absolute right to remain silent under the 5th Amendment, and you should exercise it. Under no circumstances should you speak with any law enforcement officer without first having the advice of an experienced criminal defense lawyer. The AZ Bar Association can recommend one. Exercise the rights soldiers are presently dying for, your right to remain silent being one of them. Get legal advice now.
