Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Possesion of Drug Paraphernalia

I am from California and was given a citation for ''possession of drug paraphernalia'' in AZ. What they found in the car was a used marijuana pipe and no drugs. What I would like to know is, what is going to happen to me when I appear in the Yuma court? Will I go to jail? How much might the fine be? Also, I am 30 now and was convicted of two misdameanors in California when I was 17 and 19. Will the judge use these past convistions against me? Should I get a lawyer before appearing? What do I do!

Re: Possesion of Drug Paraphernalia

First, take a deep breath. Second, get an attorney. Depending on the nature of your prior convictions, you may be statutorily precluded from jail or prison. Based on the facts you provide, your case may be very defendable. So long as you abide by your promise to appear in Yuma, the judge should maintain your release on your own recognizance.
