Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona
Possession of Marijuana and Paraphenilia
I was stopped in Yuma, Arizona at an immigration checkpoint with dogs. I had an eighth of an ounce of weed on me and a pipe. It was charged as a misdemeanor and I will be attending court soon and was wondering what my consequences might be and whether it be smarter to plead guilty or not guilty. Will they assign me a public defender, as I do not have money for a private attorney? Also, I live 2 1/1 hours away, will they make any exceptions for me so that I will not have to return to court at a later date?

Re: Possession of Marijuana and Paraphenilia
Since you can't afford a private attorney you should accept the public defender and then run the rest of your questions by her.
Good luck.
