preliminary hearing

is the inmate required to sign the waiver for the preliminary hearing, or can the attorney alone waive the preliminary hearing?

Defendant must sign and court must inquire on the record about the volunatariness of the waiver.

Rule 5.1(b): "A preliminary hearing may be waived by written waiver, signed by the defendant, his or her counsel, and the prosecutor." The defendant must sign.
