Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

I have a relative who was arrested for 1 count of sexual abuse and 4 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor (age 15). Never been convicted of a felony before. How many years of imprisonment is he looking at? With and without plea bargain? Your advise will be gratly appreciated. Thankyou.

The charges are extremely serious. If convicted, the offenses for sexual misconduct for a victim over 15 at the time of the offense is a class 6 felony. A Class 6 felony could result in a 2 yr prison term, or probation for the remainder of his life. The offenses and the penalties must be run consecutive. The Sexual Abuse is a class 5 felony with a potential of 2.5 years in prison yrs in prison. The potential lifetime probation and year in jail would be the same. You really should consider retaining counsel if possible.

I agree the charges are serious, but it's important to remember that they are only unproven allegations. I have had many clients facing far more serious sexual offenses, only to later have them dismissed, or acquitted by a not guilty verdict. It's important to have an aggressive and thorough defense. Having been doing this for two decades now, and having defended too many sex cases to remember, I know the steps to take to effectively represent a client in this type of situation. If you are looking to hire an attorney to represent your relative, give me a call at (six zero two) two two two - nine two three seven.
