sell home to pay med. bills?
My husband (65) and I (65) own our home. Assuming we have no other property or assets, will medicare/medicaid force us to sell our home to pay med. bills or long term care bills?

Re: sell home to pay med. bills?
No ! We don't have medicaid in AZ, we have ACCHS. Medicare covers a certain amount of your medical bills and you may have supplemental insurance to cover the portion that Medicare doesn't pay. If one of you receives benefits through AZ's Long term care program, a lien may be taken against your house for reimbursement, after you and your surviving spouse pass away. Depending upon your income, you may not qualify for ACCHS or ALTX.
