adoption???

how do i change my daugahters last name to my new fiance's last name? I have no papers of custody and the origional dad has been gone for 2 1/2 years.

Once you are married, you have a couple of options: you might be able to arrange for your now-fiance to adopt your daughter, or you might be able to file with the court to formally change her last name to his/yours. Both options require that the biological dad either consent, or that he be served with notice and fail to appear/contest.
