when two adults have a child and are not married how would they go about custody for the child they will have 2 separate residences and one is unsafe and not a healthy invironment for the child. what can be done to get sole custody on this child,as the mother is a threat not only to her former mate but her child as well

A petition for paternity, custody, parenting time and child support must be filed. The court can then determine what is in the best interest of the child.
You should and could file a Paternity Complaint, in which you can seek what you believe to be in the child's best interests.
