amendment of divorce decree

Divorce was done in nevada. since then I have moved to arizona and remarried. I would like to amend my divorce for custody and child support. Do I have to do that in Nevada court or can I do it in Arizona court?

Re: amendment of divorce decree

The question depends upon many factors. Custody modifications can sometimes be initiated even if support modifications cannot.

We can absolutely help.

I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Alicia or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation.

Re: amendment of divorce decree

If the kids live in AZ then you can move jurisdiction as long as you first file a notice of filing of foreign judgment. You need to make sure you have certified copies of all previous orders.

You cannot however move financial orders regarding alimony or child support unless the other party has moved out of that jurisdiction too or he or she agrees to move that order elsewhere.
