Often times when a person falls behind on their child support, it is because their financial situation has changed dramatically and they do not have the money to pay what is ordered. If your financial situation has changed, perhaps this is the time to request a modification of your child support to bring the order in line with what you can afford. If you do not seek a modification, you will simply fall further behind. As you may be aware, Arizona will put parents in jail for contempt for failing to pay the ordered child support. They do that under laws which allow the judges to find the parent in contempt for failing to pay child support. If you would like to discuss taking steps to avoid a finding of contempt and jail time due to your inability to pay child support, don't hesitate to call Stephanie Coulter of this office at 602 462 1004 to make arrangements to have us review your child support order and determine if there is anyway we can get temporary relief for you, put a payment plan in place on the child support which is in arrears and help you work out of this jam.
