Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

I'm not the biological father of a little girl I have helped take care of from day one, I am the only father she knows and the mother wants me to take custody of her so she can go to canada. What do I need to do to make this happen? (courts have been periodically taking child support from his checks but he has never shown any desire to meet or take care of her)

I would enjoy meeting with you and the biological mother to discuss a strategy. There are two options which I would like to discuss including terminating the parental rights of the father and addressing whether you want to step forward to become the child's guardian/de facto parent. Let's discuss this. It is too complicated to try to do this without an attorney. Call my office at 602 462 1004 and Stephanie Coulter can make arrangements for us to discuss the details of this.

You have a couple of options. Perhaps Father's rights can be termninated. Also, you could establish in loco parentis custody orders.

We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options. This is obviously a very important matter, and you should not go in alone.

One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail.

Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Alicia or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
