Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
When I was born, my mother was not married, and on my birth certificate it lists her name and the name of my biological father. A few years ago, my mom got married, and the man adopted me, and my birth certificate now has his name as my father. They divorced shortly after, and I wanted to see if there was a way to legally change my birth certificate back to my biological fathers name, or have no father listed at all.

You absolutely can seek a Court Ordered change of name, which should include an Order that the Department of vital records amend your birth certificate. However, this changes your name only.
I have never sought to set aside or amend an Order of Adoption under these circumstances, but would certainly be willing to attempt such. Would your biolgical Father consent to such? Would your adopted Father?
We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options.
One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail. Please ask for attorney Carlie Owelsy Walker, who handles most of our adoption matters.
Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Gina or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
