Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
What's the chances for shared custody?
About 3 months ago I became involved (sexualy) with a
37 year old women. I'm 20 myself and a fulltime
college student. About two weeks ago, she came told me
she was preganent. This suprised me because she told
me before we even started having sex that she could
not have anymore children.(tubes tide). So we began
talking about what we should do if she decides to have
this child. To me there is only 3 options, 1: she
raises the child herself. 2: I have shared custody and
all the paternal rights that go with it. 3: she has an
abortion. Everything was going good till I told
her that if she has this child I want shared
custody. Then she just went off saying how selfish I
am, and that she deserves near full custody. There are
a few things though that worry me. She is a Navajo
Indian, and continuiosly throws that in my face saying
that the tribe will press the custody issue, even if
she doesn't. I have requested her to give me the name
of her doctor, and rights to speak with him about her
health and the child. I also asked for a copy of
the medical report of her preganency, and of her
having her tubes tide. And a paternity test.
