Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Change of Jurisdiction

My monthly child support payments are up to date. I have never been in arrears.

The payments are collected from me via payroll deduction through one state child support agency, but now I'm being told that another state child support agency has taken over the case, and now they are saying that I'm delinquent, and want to sieze my next income tax return via the IRS. This ''other state'' child support agency is treating my case as if I have never paid enough, so they want more money.

(My children are living with my ex-wife in this ''other state'', so I imagine she had something to do with starting this.)

Can one state child support agency take over a child support case from another state child support agency without my knowledge or consent? How do I deal with this issue?

Thanks

Re: Change of Jurisdiction

State agencies have a fairly wide latitude, but if you have not missed any payments then you should be in no trouble. I would advise hiring local counsel to deal with this issue so that your credit and, more importantly, your freedom isnt affected.
