child custody: CA to AZ

Can I bring my daughter here to AZ and file for custody or will I have to attend court in CA? THis is in the best interest of my daughter..last week she was just shot at and was all over the Salinas CA. news...she's only 6 yrs and her mother is a Meth addict. yet extremely smart with a good job and will file if I take her! How can I bring her here and fight for her here in AZ?

You could file in Arizona and request that Arizona assume "Emergency Jurisdiction". However, any Orders entered may only be temporary, as a Judge could force you to initiate California proceedings (and allow you to keep the child while doing so).
