Child Support

My ex-wife went on welfare in Arizona and claimed our 2 children. I live in Ca and was notified by my employer that my wages were going to be garnished by the state of Arizona for back child support. I pay child support and have since our divorce. I have filled out all the paperwork and sent all the documentation requested by AZ verifying I pay my support, including pay stubs that shows the support come directly out of my paycheck. It has been 4 months now, the state of Arizona has taken over $11,000 out of my wages, and when I try to contact them they either give me the run around or I leave messages and they don't call me back. What do I need to do to get my money back? Are there any laws that protect me in this situation?

To attach your wages the Arizona court order would have to be registered in California. Arizona does not have personal jurisdiction over you merely because your children live there. Retain an attorney and file a motion in California to determine arrears. That should get the attention of the Arizona department of social services.
