Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Children turning 18

I was divorced in 1990 & at the time the child support order was for 4 children, 2 of which now have turned 18. An of the other two one of them a 15 year old has come to live with me & has for the past two years. There are some arrearages in child support on my behalf but she has nevered offered me anything support on the one that lives with me . What do I need to do to protect myself further as for the two that are over 18 & for the situation with the one living with me. There is 18 months apart of the two youngest ones so I have approx 5 more years on support with the youngest. What is your suggestion?

It is very important that you file for modification right away. Otherwise, support will continue to accrue at the higher amount, and you will have no recourse. Every month that you wait might be a month lost.

Please contact me directly if you would like to discuss this further.

I'm a bit unclear on your fact scenario, but it sounds like you may need to consider a child support modification to remove your emancipated children. You may also need to try to arrange something with her that offsets the arrearage against the fact that you now have a child living with you. To discuss either of these options, please feel free to contact me.
