Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Can I collect years of back child support?

My son is now 18 and gone from the house, but I feel I'm owed something still from the father. He was under court order for a year or so to pay me a bi-weekly sum and half the time he did not do it. Now here's my question. We had been separated for much longer than this one year of court ordered (though not rigidly enforced) support (around 5 years roughly) and I had tried to get support from him for these years with no help from anyone and a lot of fast talk and job switching from him. Do I have any right to seek past support from him from the day he left me and my son. He now makes very good money and I want whats due and whats right. If someone could please tell me if I have a case here or at least where I could research this topic I'd be very thankful.

Re: Can I collect years of back child support?

If you have current Court orders, we absolutely can still enforce them, SO LONG AS YOU ACT QUICKLY. If you never obtained Court orders regarding child support, you may still be able to pursue him for the preceding three years.

I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Audrey to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation. I look forward to talking with you.
