contempt of court

ex will not give information like ssn for the 2 children or a copy of birth certificate to get medical coverage on them.

which the court ordered me to have for them. isn't that contempt and what can i do?

It's not "contempt" unless the judge ordered your ex to provide the info and he failed to do so. Otherwise, it's more like "obstruction."

As a parent, you can get copies of the birth certificates from the state where the kids were born, and copies of social security cards from the social security administration. This would probably be faster than filing a court action to get the judge to order your ex to provide the info.

You might also consider sending a certified letter requesting the information, and sending a copy of the letter to the judge.
