Does a court order that allows contact through email about a child trump a order of protection if it has not yet been modified to allow such communication?

I strongly suggest you seek modification of the order of protection prior to making contact by email. If the order allowing email contact was entered after the OP, you are probably safe. This is more true if the court was aware of the OP and the other party agreed to the terms of communication. That said, my favorite legal word is however, which in this context means you never know. Better safe than sorry. Seek moodification.
