Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

our custody, parenting plan, and child support was set 10 years ago in WA state. Neither one of us has lived there since before 2007. How can I change the custody to the state I live in now and have since 2007? The state I am in now said I have to go through WA but I don't feel WA should have a say since I haven't been a resident there since 2007.

If neither parent now lives in Washington, custodial changes can be made in the child's home state. If the other parent does not also live in that state, child support may need to be handled differently.

Please come in soon. We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options for modification of the Washington orders. This is obviously a very important matter, and you should not go in alone.

One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail.

Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Paige or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
