In order to adopt the daughter, someone would have had to terminate your rights as a father... if there was a child support order... most likely you would have had to file a petition to terminate the child support when you daughter either became emancipated as a minor... or alternatively turned 18... those things probably did not happen... There is also a possibility that you are paying child support arrears... Without looking at the court records in your case, an answer is just a guess.
