Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
If I decide to leave my wife after 17 years. I know that If I get divorced I will end up paying thru the nose for child support for our 4 kids (16,12, 8 & 3). What about custody? if we get 50/50 what do I have to pay? She is working at a school as an playground/cafeteria aide working about 19 hours a week and I am a teacher making $33K a year. I do not want to take full custody of the kids even though they don't belong to be with her. If I leave, based on the hopes of leaving without paying too much. Would I have to pay her alimony? What about the cost of each child? Would all of this be a better situation if we legally seperated or just got divorced?

The questions you ask are a little complicated. There are a number of things I would need to know to answer any of these questions. I would encourage you to sit down with an experienced lawyer to understand your rights and responsibilities. Feel free to call my office.
For 60 - 90 minutes at my hourly rate, I could give you a decent idea (although not an exact prediction) as to some likely scenarios as to child support, spousal maintenance, and the remaining contested issues.
We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options for divorce. This is obviously a very important matter, and you should not go in alone.
Please call or email me directly to discuss the specifics of your matter. [email protected].
