Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Divorce - assets

I live in the community states and I'm about to leave my husband. He doesn't know how much i have in saving. I withdrew all my money and put them in a cashier check less than a month ago. My Question is; (1) If it is not disclosed on the divorce papers and he does not know about it (assuming no lawyer will be involved), will i be able to get away with it? (2) If he gets a lawyer and find out about the money, and i already gifted the whole thing to a friend i trust, can he still go after me for the money or go after my friend legally? (3) what other ways i can use to hide it legally? (4) How long does it take to get an offical divorce from the time of filing?

Re: Divorce - assets

There is no legal way to hide money. All assets acquired during the marriage (with very few exceptions) are community property and subject to division. If you saved the money during the marriage, he is entitled to half of it, just like you are entitled to half of any assets he has aquired during the marriage. If he finds out about it, even after the divorce is final, he is still entitled to his half (even if you've given it away) and you may be subject to sanctions for your behavior.
