Re: divorce

Thank you for your inquiry. Your divorce itself should not be affected by his pregnant girlfriend, but your child support may be affected if the girlfriend and his/her child live with him. Since the court does not discriminate between children born during marriage and children born out of wedlock, the child support formula will be adjusted to accomodate for his support of a child living in his home. Please feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to perform some calculations for you by phone or in person.

On a different note, I realize this is a difficult, emotional time, but one aspect you will undoubtedly face is that his new child will be a half-sibling to your own children, and the children should have an opportunity to know each other (their father's poor judgment is not the fault of any of the children).

Sincerely,

Monica Donaldson
