Can emails be used in court?

My boyfriend has been going through a divorce for a year, they have 2 year old twins, which he has not seen for a year. She is fighting him on everything she doesn�t want him to see the kids and wants him to pay an astronomical amount in child support and spousal support . She recently started talking to my sister, she told her that he is abusive and that he is going to end up killing me. My sister gave me the password for her email address and told me to look at everything that was being said. Well I don�t believe it and so I printed off all the emails because they show how vindictive she is being. The question is can those emails be used in court?

Technically, it is possible for an e-mail to be used in court. If your boyfriend has an attorney, the information you posted & the printed e-mails should be given to the attorney. If he doesn�t have an attorney, he might want to consider hiring someone�it is especially helpful in custody battles. If he does go to court, without an attorney, I would recommend that your sister be called as a witness. She can be subpoenaed if necessary, so she can testify about receiving the e-mails. Your testifying about looking at them on someone elses computer doesn�t make as good an impression on the judge. Good Luck
