Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
I just found out yesterday that I have a 6 year old son with a girl I briefly dated in the past. She kept it a secret from me and never told me about him. She lives with him in another state. I need to know what my legal rights and options are. Please help.

If you are willing to admit paternity, you won't need to go through a medical test to prove it, unless she decides to contest it. But she's already said this is your child. You have every right to exercise your parental rights, up to and including custody (sole or joint) and/or parenting time/visitation. She may ask for child support, and this may be why she mentioned it to you now. Of course the court will look at her financial resources as well as yours in determining whether child support should be ordered and, if so, in what amount. Best of luck to you!
