Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
Incest
My friend who is 17 has been raped by her 15 yr old brother. Her parents said all he has to do is say ''sorry'' and to just forget about it. Sometimes really late at night her brother comes pounding on the door and she locks it and pretends she is sleeping. She tells me it makes her life feel threatened and she is scared to live there. Is there anything that can be done?

Re: Incest
If your friend feels threatened, she needs to contact the police. She can also contact Child Protective Services, and they can help determine if she (or he) needs to be placed with a foster family or another family member since her parents will not do anything about it.
Re: Incest
Your friend needs to seek help, immediately. She should talk with someone she trusts to do the right thing, whether a school counselor, aunt or other relative, neighbor, etc.
She also could call the police and seek their involvement.
An attorney could file papers on her behalf, but we would likely need some adult to act on her behalf and name as the "Petitioner".
Please call me if you wish to discuss this further.
