Child support is not based on legal custody; rather, it is based on a formula that takes into consideration each parent's gross monthly income, cost of child care, cost of the children's medical insurance and the amount of parenting time exercised by each parent. Even if the parents share equal parenting time, there still could be a child support obligation depending on the parents' incomes and the other child-related expenses.

A Child support calculation depends upon much more than just "joint custody". We must look at income, daycare expenses, health insurance expenses, parenting time schedules, and more.

We can certainly help you consider chil support issues.
