Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Jurisdiction

My divorce was finalized in a different state, and my children and I have now lived in AZ 2 yrs. I've heard that I can file my finalized decree in AZ to change the jurisdiction to AZ, & when I tried, I was told I need a ''notice of filing''. What is that, and how do I do one?

Re: Jurisdiction

Thank you for your inquiry.

A Notice of Filing is a document that notifies the opposing party that you are filing your foreign judgment (divorce) in AZ.

In addition, you must also file an "exemplified copy" of your decree with the court. A photocopy or certified copy will not suffice.

I hope this information is useful.
