Kitty Question
I hope this isn't a silly question...I was being emotionally abused by my ex boyfriend therefore one day I packed my stuff and moved out...I have two cats that are mine but we bought a cat together...We adopted her together but under his name..but all the vet visits are under mine...I fed her and took care of her but have no proof of that...can he take her from me? Shes been at my parents house now for 6 days.

That is not a silly question in the least. And it is one in which I have a bit of expertise, since I specialize in animal law. Because you weren't legally married the legal bond is not as strong. However, even when roommulk of tates part ways they sometimes fight about ownership of a beloved pet or pets. Your situation is mixed. His name is on the adoption documents, apparently, but the vet visits are under your name. Is there anyone who can write a notarized statement that you provided the bulk of the care? Best of luck!
