Once legal separation papers have been filed by one person, how quickly can those papers be canceled if they change their mind?

A case can be dismissed right up until the time the judge signs to finalize them. There are certain circumstances where the first party can dismiss the case himself/herself without the other party's participation, and other circumstances where both parties have to sign off on the dismissal.
