Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Do I have to live in the same state as mey ex for the divorce?

My husband and I are planing to file for divorce and I live in Illinois while he lives in Arizona. I was wondering if I have to be in the same state as he is for the whole process? We have two kids together, one lives with me while the other with him. We both already agree on joint custody and how we want that to go so I just need help on my first question.

that's an interesting scenario. You have jurisdiction over one child in one state and over the other in another state. As long as you 2 agree to jurisdiction then it should not matter which state you file in. However, if your husband has neve resided in IL or vice versa, this might be an issue over jurisdiction over the spouse.
