If your married and dying can you designate anyone other than your spouse to control your money

Generally speaking, you can name anyone you choose to be your Agent (under a Power of Attorney during your lifetime) or your Personal Representative/Executor (to administer your estate upon your death); however, you can only give control over your own assets, not your spouse's assets or your spouse's share of community property assets. I recommend you speak with an attorney in your state of residence to discuss your rights more fully.
