Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
I got married to someone that was in prison in 2005 after being in a relationship for 3 years with him, long story short was not aware that he has a life sentence. I was told by him as well as prison staff that he was going to be out in 2010 but with further research see that he was sentenced to life and not eligible for parole until 2017! I want a divorce but I am unsure if I need to have a divorce or if the above information that was given to me falsely would qualify for an annulment. Please advise me.

If he misrepresented his sentence to you, you may be able to seek an annulment on those grounds. If not, you can certainly file for divorce. There is too much to discuss in a forum like this, but I encourage you to speak with an attorney to discuss your options so you can decide your best course of action. We offer a free initial consultation, so please call our office to arrange a meeting.
Yes, you may have claims for annulment. But, I would need to know more. Plus, there are of course advantages and disadvantages to divorce vs annulment.
We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options. This is obviously a very important matter, and you should not go in alone.
One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail.
Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Alicia or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
