If you marry someone who has filed bankruptcy how does this affect the spouse credit??

Not directly. Every adult has their own credit score. Anything that is just in your name from prior to the marriage would be unaffected. It gets more complicated with combined assets or debts assumed or acquired during the marriage. Naturally you would be affected by a spouse who prior to marriage entered into bankruptcy. But the legal impact is not forever. It just might make things more difficult in the short term as far as needing credit for large purchases or loans or whatnot.
