Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

i am about a month away from giving birth and i am tryin to decide whether or not i should put the father on the certificate. i dont want him to be involved. he originally said he would sign his rights over to me and now he wants to be involved. he has a criminal record and has threatened my life. i have saved messages of him threatening me. i dont feel comfotable with him being a part of my sons life and i dont know how to go about this situation.

You are not required to put his name on the birth certificate (and you are not required to give your baby his last name); however, if he files an action for paternity, the court would eventually order that he be added to the birth certificate.

You are also not required to permit him access to your child if you believe that doing so is not in the child's best interests; however, if you "unreasonably" restrict his access, he could try to use this against you in later court proceedings.
