When during an ongoing divorce process can I purchase items/stuff (ex. TV, new car) and not have it become available to my spouse as part of the divorce process?

Once the Petition has been filed, and the documents served to the opposing party, the general rule is assets purchased after this period are considered sole & separate property of the purchasing party.
