Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
We are doing a private adoption. The dad of the baby does not want anything to do with the baby and mom is 100% positive she want to give her baby up to me and my husband. The mom and the dad to the baby are not married. This will be an open adoption between my husband and I and the babys mom. The baby is due in May. We are already certified to adopt with our background checks and home study done. What is our next step we need to do?

If all are in agreement, the Attorney General's office can complete the adoption process for you free of charge. You will still need to provide notice and waivers at the adoption hearing. Alternatively, you can hire private counsel to complete the process. My firm can assist you in this matter. Congratulations to all of you, as an adoptive mother too, you are embarking on a very treasured adventure!
Attorney Carlie OWsley Walker in my office handles our adoption matters. She would be able to assist you through your next step. I am sorry to say I do not know the answer!
She can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which she can discuss your matter in detail.
Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Gina or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
