is receiving my mail from a person who put a restraining order against me ok?

If someone has an Order of Protection against you, that does not stop them from communicating with you, but it does stop (or limit) you from contacting them. Your Order of Protection will be specific as to whether any contact is allowed (e.g. phone, email, writing), so even if they are allowed to send you, that does not necessarily mean you can respond. If you are unsure of what your limitations are under the Order of Protection, I recommend you consult with an attorney.
