Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

removal of parental rights

What can I do to remove the parental rights of my ex-husband who has not seen or talked to my children in over 4 years, he does not pay child support either. I live in Arizona and have my divorce in Oregon.

Re: removal of parental rights

Thank you for your inquiry.

In AZ, you can ask for termination of parental rights on the grounds of abandonment if there has been failure to maintain contact for a period of 6 months prior to the filing of the petition. Failure to support (whether or not there is a court order) also contributes to a finding of abandonment.

If you'd like to discuss this matter further, please contact me at [email protected] or (480) 792-9770.

Re: removal of parental rights

You clearly have a basis for "Termination" of parental rights, which means that Father would thereafter have NO rights towards the child. The steps are rather simple. I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Cathy to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation. I look forward to talking with you.
