Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

School for daughter

I have final say in health, religion and education, but my ex boyfriend (never married) has joint custody in title. She lives with me full time and he has been granted supervised visitation due to substance abuse. She's about to turn four and attends the child center where I attend college (it's like a preschool). When it's time to enroll her in kindergarten/first grade, if I choose to enroll her in a private school is he obligated to pay a portion? He's not going to want her to go to a school that costs money (he isn't even current on child support) but I want her to have the best education we can find. What is protocol on such situations?

Re: School for daughter

no need to include him on any of this. However, you cannot cause him to suffer financial harm without either court order or his agreement. Otherwise, people would be doing this all the time and it is not a fair way to approach costs. You are free to place her where you want but you won't be able to require him to pay for it unless that term is in your court orders.
