How do I get a legal separation?

You have to file a petition with the court requesting a legal separation, serve the other party and then divide assets, debts and resolve any child related issues whether by agreement or trial. After that, the court will sign an order of legal separation.

For legal seperation you have to file a petition praying for legal seperation.
