Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona
support order
I currently have a court order for child support. I was in a motorcycle accident september 07. I have been seriously injured and I have no income at all. I need to be advised on the correct paper work to file with the courts. After looking into this I see that I can file a modification (simplified process), but I am looking to stop the current order. I also have an arrears balance that I feel is going to be impossible to resolve. I am concernd because DES charges such a high interest with the arrears. When I get back on my feet and I am working I donot have a problem paying support.

Re: support order
You are on the right track. You need to file the modification of support as soon as possible along with a child support worksheet. If you cannot pay the calculated amount, you can ask the court for a deviation to zero until you are able to seek employment again. You could also ask the other parent to agree to a temporary stop.
