For the man's protection, how can he secure this arrangement now so that he is not ever be responsible for child support or if the women changes her mind 10 years down the road. He would like to live with out fear of be responsible for back child support or welfare paid to the single mother by the state for the next 18 years! Please help and advise!!!! Please tell me there is a way. No paternity has been established.

Re: termination of parental rights

Generally a mother cannot bargain away her child's right to support from the non-custodial parent.

Re: termination of parental rights

In Georgia, you cannot have such an arrangement. It is the child's right to have support and cannot be terminated by the mother. Of course, the mother or guardian would have to initiate a claim first. So, if she never files a paternity suit, you won't have to pay support.

Re: termination of parental rights

If she is willing, she can sign a waiver of support. She likely would also ask that you agree to terminate your parental rights. These are simple forms, so long as everyone is in agreement.

I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Audrey to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation. I look forward to talking with you.
