The judge and lawyers keep talking about how it is now a VI-D case. What does this mean?

It's actually IVD not VI D and what it means is that because someone involved in the case, either mother or father, obtained benefits from the state (cash assistance, food stamps or something like that)then the state must be involved in any establishment of child support or modifications of child support.
