Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Arizona

Financial agreement between Ex-Fiance

I lent $3k to my EX for a business venture that never came to fruition while we were together. This was in April 2002, since then we have split up, and the agreement was that when I moved to Arizona to be together, she would have the $3k ready for me. All has passed... it has been since August 2002 when she called off the engagement, and I am getting the typical blow off routine... ''I'm busy, I'll call you later'' ... ''I am broke right now'' etc... the usual response you get handed when someone owe's you money they can't re-pay. I have even tried to communicate and work out a payment plan etc... I just get intentionally blown off and the situation is treated with total disregard. She has even threatened to file for bankruptcy! What can I do?

Re: Financial agreement between Ex-Fiance

Consider filing suit in small claims court where matters of this type are typically disposed of. If she files bankruptcy over $3K she will be unique, as that is too small an amount for the hassle, but there is nothing you can do about that. Obviously the things you have tried to date haven't been successful; you must become more aggressive.
